The Truth in Advertising UK style
January 6, 2007For anyone who has seen the very funny “Truth in Advertising” this is a great UK version
HD-Ray or Blu-HD?
January 6, 2007The next big thing to replace the DVD is actually 2 things. Two competing formats to enable HD movie content and mass data storage have come out in the last couple of months. One camp is HD-DVD and the other headed by Sony is Blu-ray.
For consumers this is going to be confusing because who wants to be left with the “Beta-Max“? One of two things will happen:
1) by some strange quirk of fate (be it a better supply of movies or the right alignment of the stars) either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD will miraculously take off.
or
2) people will freeze and buy nothing.
One option that could be hoped for is that someone will build a machine that can play both formats. The word on the net-vine is that licencing agreements forbid incorporating the 2 formats in one box.
Until now.
I don’t know how they’ve done it but LG are set to announce a box that will do both.
If they can manage to build one that fits into computers as well as for the home, the world will make sense again. And the worry of backing the wrong horse will be eliminated.
Personally, I can’t wait to have a system that can back-up up to 50GB of data.
