iPhone: The killer marketing tools was “the pinch”

January 11, 2007

As you may have guessed by now I was pretty blown away by the iPhone. Even non Apple fans like My CEO’s response was ” I Want One”. Sure it does some amazing stuff, but the pinch was the clincher. I have never been to Macworld, I would give my left one to go but I’m not holding my breath. I did however get up at 4.30am Aus time and sit and watch people type updates on my screen. Pretty Geeky!!. Then out came the line that everybody had waited for, iPhone was here. Stats, opinion of looks, back-round, all the facts can tumbling out on to my screen until it was time to demo “the pinch” I cant remember the actual line but as I was looking at three blogs all reporting what was happening in their own way, all of a sudden they had the same line on the screen and for the first time in my life I could feel, from the way the words appeared, that the air had just been sucked out of the auditorium the keynote was held in. S Jobs and co. (sorry inc) had done it, every sci-fi buff, tecki, futurist and the common person had just been given the future they had seen in sci-fi for so long, and not just a glimpse but available in Jun.

A simple movement called “the pinch” may be one of the greatest selling tools of all time.

How powerful is the human emotion of desire, once the imagination has been Captured
