Chad Vader Creators Speak

February 26, 2007

The series creator speak to, and read fan comments.

VH1, iFilm & Web TV featured Chad Vader along with 39 other videos on VH1 for the “40 Greatest Internet Stars” special.

I wonder where the new funniest home videos or the like will spring from? Who can see UGC (user generated content)  being featured in an IPTV low cost multi channel model?

These guys did muff up, they should of had some sponsorship involvement! Silly Sallys!!!

Chad Vader – Day Shift Manager Ep 01

February 26, 2007

Bloody funny stuff!

It was said that semi-pro productions would take a hold in the online video space.

Here is a great, humourous example with around 3mill hits, viewers reaction has been strong with many people crossing their fingers for it to get picked up by a commercial broadcaster…

Hey, Red Dwarf had the worst production values ever, but it`s killer writing saw it become a huge success…

AD:TECH

February 21, 2007

I don`t know about you, but I missed one of the best new media events on the globe, recently held right on my door step in Sydney.

I will happy accept any corporate sponsorship offers to attend AD:TECH Paris as a corporate proxy or for corporate tax deduction reasons.

The good news, some podcasts of the New York event are available HERE .

I am currently listening to one a day to get my new media fitness up.

The Number’s Up for Jim Carrey on YouTube

The Number’s Up for Jim Carrey on YouTube

February 20, 2007

Creative Showcase

New Line Cinema explores the dark obsessions of the YouTube community with a branded page that lets users create video confessionals to promote “The Number 23.”

“I thought I was a seasoned Web 2.0 guy, but this is the first commercial campaign I’ve seen that successfully pulls off the re-skinning of a branded YouTube page. From a viral marketing perspective, this YouTube campaign site hits on all cylinders (as you’d suspect from anything YouTube does). Subscribe to all the user-generated content for this site, send to a friend, share the channel– these are just the basics. The main call-to-action of the site is to submit a video of one of your darkest secrets, confessions or obsessions to be eligible to win $2300.” – Ryan Buchanan, CEO, eROI

Jargon Buster V1.0

February 19, 2007

I will attempt a bit of a jargon buster.

Feel free to discuss or add your take on things.

I find it easier to simply & find parallels to things I understand.

A wise person once said to me ” You don`t need to know how the internal combustion engine works to drive a car or to harness it`s potential for commerce! “

Hope it helps…

01. Web 2.0 (Wikipedia definition) – It was coined in 2004 by O’Reilly. It is still in some debate. Hmmm? I think of it as the rebirth or second generation out of the dot com bubble ashes.

It is how the web should have been or how we imagined it.

Web services & delivery under went an evolution and became more human friendly.

Evolved from a relative passive, click and read, one sided, slow,  clunky implimentation, to a cohesive, easy to use, fast, interactive, dynamic, information rich, socially accepted & socially interactive model.

People have easier access to efficient, accurate search functions, they can create & share their own content, they meet & communicate with people with similar interests, a sense of active sharing & community has evolved over the last few years.

I also like to think that it`s reference is linked to the implimentation & availability of high speed internet connections, which give us access to a full suite of interactive, media rich services available through a faster data pipe line. We talk mega (millions) bits of data not kilo (thousands) bits which now gives us access to video, audio, telephony, video on demand, torrenting & high res photographs.

It also seems to have coincided with main stream acceptance, large scale usage, commercial profitablility, billion dollar corporations, & a critical mass of hundreds of millions of users…you can always read the wiki version it is very good or Google Web 2.0 & read O’Reilly`s take on things if you want a head ache!

It is quite nebulous! Consider it a renaissance.

CLICK ME for a link to a great page on web usage metrics.

I love my that mum tells me about net banking, how easy it is to use, it also also cool to see some of the more mature generations embracing ecommerce & trading shares for their DIY super funds using online stock brokers!

That level of trust just didn`t exist several years ago. That`s a huge paradigm shift in a very short period of time!

The next blog will look a something, you can be sure of that…

Cheers,

This is our artists impression of what may happen!

Introducing Mark Pesce…

February 7, 2007

After careful deliberation, I have crumbled, who would want to give up a great souce in such a competitive environment?

Me, that`s who, for the greater good! I`ll shut up now….

To those of you who are unfamiliar it, I have to introduce you some of Mark Pesce`s work.

Mark is guru in futureology (if that`s a word).

These resources are a must read, must hear for anyone involved in the media environment.

Here is a link to some of his podcasts, some professional background & some very sage information.

At the top is a great podcast (click on the lecture icon on the far left of the page that opens) (podcast = media file stored on web to accesced on demand, usually short audio or video clip) from the JJJ Hack 1/2 hour special featuring Mark talking about media downloads & consumption recorded in October 2006.

It talks about some considerations in regards to dowloading television programmes, talks to downloaders, some legal considerations, creators and some emerging legal download models.

There also some link to some of his video seminars.

Also have a look at his article “How Battlestar Galactica Killed TV” of May 05, which talks about the emergence of Torrenting.

Mark was spruiking about RSS, interactivity, social networking, engagement several years ago when I saw him in lecture session at AFTRS.

Maybe you could book him for a seminar for corporate purposes? Put my name down!

CLICK, LISTEN, LEARN…

Oh, & don`t forget to send us any great discoveries, links or resources, there is still a bottle of wine, HICCUP, correction  1/2 a bottle of wine to give away!
