THE federal Government has allocated an extra $20 million to its Broadband Connect rural subsidy scheme in a bid to honour a rash of last-minute claims for the final scraps of the rapidly-depleting fund. MORE>>

Ozzie Broadband! What the?

March 14, 2007

Does anyone know what the hay is happening with Ozzie broadband?

It seems like a big gorilla is sitting on all the vital infrastructure, it is cashed up & willing to fight. More Here

What about our rights & access to telephony infrastructure & services?

It also seems that the governments rural broadband connect plans have gone pear shaped with start ups relying of funds which have dried up & which has potentially left them high & dry. More here

A bit of a dogs breakfast from the governments side of things in it`s planning, regulation, arbitration & implementation.

Interestingly on page 35`ish of the Telstra prospectus, it states that it has technology dumding devices on the end of it`s exchanges shaping our all our services to under perform.

Hmmm…feels a bit Al Capone`ish.

And whats with ADSL2+, as great as it is, ADSL 1 should give us access at 8 mbs but we are all only getting 1.2 mbs?

How about getting ADSL 1 working properly, perhaps we could just skip to ADSL10+ start rolling it out now & get 5 gps? Now lets put in ADSL11+…

My point is, why isn`t the first service working properly?

As Rove says “What the?”.

It also seems that large hurdles are being put in the way of telcos wanting to roll out their own ADSL2+ exchanges that give up to 24 mbs service.

Didn`t the Australian public fund the infrastructure in the first place? Perhaps there could be equal access at a set price for ALL telcos?

It is just keeping us further behind new media advancements.

The joy of a small spread out population, an effective monopoly & a nil sums game.

This thing is bigger than me…

The Death Of Internet Radio

March 14, 2007

My heart leapt reading the blog at www.pandora.com .

I am a big internet radio fan.

Looks like they have are having the life squeezed out of them by some not so aware types in government, buffoons!

See their blog posts at http://blog.pandora.com/pandora/ .

I can also recommend www.samurai.fm a great station out of Japan.
